Midterm 2 date and time

  • Midterm 2 will be held on Nov. 4 from 6-7 pm.

Content

  • Chapters 6-12 of the course notes (excluding Section 12.4 on Euler's method) as well as the least squares supplement. See Course calendar for detailed readings. Note that topics covered on Midterm 1 might reappear on Midterm 2 in the context of exponential and logarithmic functions. For example, the definition of the derivative, product and quotient rules, tangent lines, linear approximation and Newton's method all appeared on Midterm 1 but could now appear on Midterm 2 with exponential and logarithmic functions.

Study tips

  • The best way to study is to do lots of problems. Questions similar to both the WeBWorK assignments and the OSH will appear on the midterm.
  • The level of difficulty of Midterm 2 will be roughly similar to that of Midterm 1. Students who have kept up with webwork, OSH, lectures, and conceptual aspects of the material will be well-prepared for this midterm. Doing additional practice problems is extremely useful especially on topics with which you initially struggled.

Format

  • The midterm will consist of a number of multiple choice questions, some short answer problems (show work, enter answer in a box) and 2-3 longer questions more like OSH. See links below for old midterms and solutions but keep in mind that the course content and order changes from year to year.
